Kaan-Daal metro

The Kaan-Daal metro (a madaro di-kaan-daal) began construction in 1960. The metro was first completed with 3 lines in 1967, these being the pink line, yellow line and orange line.

In 1990 contruction began on the turquoise line, blue line and the red line, which opened in 1996 and 1999 and 2001 respectively. During these additions, the yellow line also was extended to the south and gained two more stations. The most recent line added was the green line, which began contruction in 2000 and opened in 2006.

In 2012 the green and red lines were extended using what was once urban rail tracks. As of this projects completion in 2016 (green line) and 2019 (red line), these are now the two longest lines on the system. Both lines now use urban rail trains as opposed to metro trains like all other lines.

The metro system also includes the trams in the city centre as well as the light rail that connects the inner city to Kaan-daal airport (shown in grey and pink respectively).

As with all public transport in Kaan-daal, the metro is completely free to people who are residents of the city. This is done through a travel-card someone can acquire from the KDSB (Kaan-Daal travel council) if they have proof of residence in the city.
