The three realms

Raa-dyanists believe that existence is split into three realms:

 saarasiasaaragoa and saarakaara

(these being the realms of the living, dead and divine)

Generally speaking, there is no way for any being to travel between these realms, as they are seperated by an infinite void. Exceptions to this rule are:

  • Saan-san, who has the ability to travel freely between the realms of saarasia and saaragoa

  • Dara'kaara can transport anything between the realms of saarasia and saarakaara.

saarasia
This is the realm in which all living beings reside, and is often translated into english as simply 'the world' or 'the universe'. In a religious sense, saarasia is everything that physically exists or everywhere that is a physical place, however semantically speaking the word can also be translated as 'the kingdom of mankind' and describes everywhere where humanity resides (in other words, the planet Earth). This latter meaning is used much more frequently in modern syan, however this is not reflective of the religious definition which is still used in the context of Raa-dyanism's realms.

saaragoa
This realm is the plane in which all dead beings reside, being translated into english most commonly as 'the realm of the dead' or 'the underworld'. It is ruled over by Kyabaa, god of the dead, and is also home to many other death-related deities.

In Raa-dyanism it is believed that upon death the god Saan-san will take a person's soul to saaragoa and there they will live in a city ruled by one of the o'goa-kaara (death gods). Which city a person resides in is dependant on the manner of their death, since each goa-kaara is the lord of a different type of death. For Jaars who have died, it is believed their soul will be taken to the bia-laas jaar-loma di-'sa (great golden palace) where they will reside with all the other dead Jaars throughout all of history, ruled over by the god of royalty Maalakyaa.

saarakaara
Saarakaara is the realm in which the divine reside. Often translated as 'the divine realm', this place is reserved only for members of the Raa-dyanistic pantheon. The only way a being can reach this realm is if they are taken there by Dara'kaara, and this can only happen if that person is of divine lineage or they have been made divine by a member of the pantheon.

It is not known what is in the realm of saarakaara, since the true form of the divine and thus the contents of their world is not (and never will be) known to mortal beings. The only thing that is known is that from saarakaara the gods can see all of history and the future, as well as see into peoples minds and souls, revealing every thought and emotion they have ever and will ever experience.
