The wife of Naanolis

Many years ago, there was a great and beloved jaar named Naanolis who ruled over a powerful tribe in the north. He was well known for being a strategic genius when it came to conflicts with other tribes, yet he was always in a state of misery and sadness. This was because he longed for a wife, but could never find someone he loved.

One fateful day, Naanolis was planning an area of new homes for his people and so ordered the clearing of a small nearby forest. What he didn't know whas that this forest was sacred to the great Nolis-Kaara, the god of wisdom and knowledge. The destruction of his forest enraged the god, and so he very quickly set about enacting his revenge.

Firstly, Nolis-Kaara cast a curse that inflicted the unsuspecting Naanolis with incredible stupidity. Then, the great lord of wisdom disguised himself as a member of the tribe and gave Naanolis a rock. Nolis-Kaara explained that this rock was in fact a beautiful woman, who wished to marry Naanolis right away.

Due to his newfound lack of logic and reasoning, the now-foolish jaar believed every word this stranger told him and set about preparing for a grand wedding. No one in the tribe knew who the bride was until the day of the ceremony, when Naanolis ordered four of his strongest warrior to carry the rock into the site of the wedding. Confused, the jaar-'yodaa of the tribe asked when the bride would be arriving. Naanolis tried to explain that the rock was his lover, but the people of his tribe laughed at what they thought was a joke being played on all of them.

At this moment, Nolis-Kaara appeared before the jaar and removed the curse of stupidity. Horrified, Naanolis looked down at the rock he intended to marry, and felt his heart being stabbed by a million swords. He dropped to his knees and wailed to the sky, the shock and sorrow of the event causing him to collapse over the rock. Eventually his misery overtook him and he died of heartbreak at the feet of the god who he had wronged. Nolis-Kaara was sastisfied that his forest had been avenged and so he departed to return to the heavens and find a new forest to make his sacred terriroty.
