The national anthem

The Syan national anthem comes in the form of a traditional ninaasa poem, with each three-word line using ancient metaphors to show its meaning. The anthem is played or sung at all political events/meetings as well as any sporting events and, in some areas of the nation, at the beginning of the school day. The untranslated anthem is shown below:

bia-laas-ili syana-saa

gin-ili di-doaro-sinaa-li o’bia-o-’maraas-aka

gon-aka di-maraas-lalin-ili o’maraas-aka

lad-ili lynaali-saa o’kakaamisal-aka

laad-aka di-maraas-lalin-ili sasia-ka

gaan-aka siaa-li o’kakaamisal-aka

lad-ili doro-kara-ka o'lili-ka
